PTA President’s Letter - Tracy Rehder

Okay, so here we are, in the doldrums of true winter, January and February are tough months, aren’t they?! Let’s be honest! They are cold, dark and a little, dare I say, dreary?! Yes! I will say it—a bit on the dreary side sometimes! But, alas! Only 80 days till the Spring

Equinox! We just have to hang in there!

Thank goodness we have a little respite in February to break up the days and give us a little something to set our sights on. It is so important to have something to set your sights on…something to keep you focused, something to keep you motivated, something to just keep you looking forward.

One very cool happening to look forward to on February 7th and 8th is our “Valentine’s Day with a V.I.P.” This is a new endeavor by the PTA to encourage first, second and third graders to spread the love they have for someone special in their lives, and bring them into Sickles to share lunch. The chosen V.I.P. will have the privilege of sharing invaluable time with their “own” V.I.P.! It is win-win all the way around! Boy! If that is not something to look forward to—

I don’t know what is!

Also, mark your calendars with the date of our Annual Spring Luncheon on March 24th. I promise the Spring Equinox will have come and gone and there will be bright flowers on our horizon.

With that in mind, maybe, these words of inspiration borrowed from the poem, “Don’t Quit” will help keep our sights set past the next two winter months: “Success is failure turned inside out, The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are It may be near, when it seems afar, So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,

It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.”
